Nipsey Hussle is an artist that requires little introduction, as over the past five years he has cemented himself as one of the most celebrated and respected figures in rap music. Having developed a fiercely loyal fan base, and worked on collaborations with the likes of Drake, Snoop Dogg, and Rick Ross, Nispey Hussle’s arrival in the UK is a highly anticipated event.
Last year, Hussle reportedly made $100,000 dollars in the space of 24 hours, as he sold one thousand hard copies of his latest mixtape, Crenshaw, for $100 apiece. Upon hearing of the sale, Jay Z bought a hundred copies of the mix tape alone. The sale was inspired by Hussle’s creation of Proud 2 Pay, which rewards his most committed fans with concerts, priority access to new material, and one-of-a-kind gifts.
Presenting Hussle’s arrival in the UK is BBC Radio 1Xtra long-stay and hip-hop legend DJ Semtex. His late night radio show every Friday has run since 2002, and in that time DJ Semtex has welcome a host of the world’s most talented hip-hop and rap acts, including Jay Z, Eminem, and The Game. ‘Arrival’, presented by DJ Semtex, is London’s premier hip-hop night, and has seen performances from the likes of Joey Bada$$, Pusha T, 2 Chainz, RiFF RAFF, Dyme-A-Duzin, and The Underachievers. Every show has sold out in advance, and feature the hottest up and coming artists.
Having collaborated with Rick Ross on the official remix of Fat Trel’s new record She Fell In Love this summer, Nipsey Hussle has announced that his debut album Victory Lap is set for release later this year. While the record will be available for $100 through the Proud 2 Pay programme, it will also be available in all good record stores, both online and offline.
